Top-down aerial of forested islets and turquoise channels weaving through Gam Bay
The waters of Gam Bay · Kapisawar base

Three paddles from our base.

Paddle out from our base at Kapisawar into the mangroves, the karst of the east bay, and the lagoons to the west. Rent a kayak and go your own way, or join a guided day.

Which paddle

Where do you want to go?

Short on time, or new to a kayak? Start with the mangrove channels — flat water, minutes from the base. For a fuller half day, the east of the bay is the karst-and-lagoon paddle; the west runs to the small lagoons and the shallows off Bun Island. Distances and times are approximate.

Rent a kayak

Prefer a guide? Request a full-day tour. Your guide will choose the best route and timing for the group.

Before you paddle
  • Wind, tide and sea state decide the route and the timing — a route description isn't a real-time safety assessment.
  • Ask us for the day's conditions before you set off. On a rental, stay within your ability.
  • Life jackets are free, and wearing one is required at all times on the water. Every paddler must be able to swim.
  • Every visitor to Raja Ampat needs a Marine Park Permit and Visitor Fee. Please purchase them before your paddle.

On site

Need snorkel gear? Rent it at the base. Need a dry bag? We sell them. You'll also find rash guards, sunscreen and a small collection of souvenirs.
