Reaching Gam Island.
Almost everyone reaches Raja Ampat the same way: fly into Sorong, cross to Waisai — the gateway town for the islands — and then take a local boat out to Gam. Our base is in Kapisawar village, on the south side of Gam Island.

Boat and ferry times, routes and fares shift with the season and the weather, so we don't publish a timetable we can't keep current. Confirm the crossings that suit your dates with your accommodation or a local transport provider before you travel — your accommodation can usually help sort out the last leg to the village.
Two things every visitor needs.
Everyone who visits Raja Ampat needs both of these before going on the water. They are two separate things — one does not replace the other.
Neither is included in our prices. You buy them yourself, before you paddle. We don't arrange them, add them to an invoice, or handle them for you — it keeps our side simple and the fees go where they should.
Read the water first.
- Wind, tide and sea state can change the route and the timing on any given day.
- Ask us about the day's conditions before you launch — we're glad to talk it through.
- Every paddler must be able to swim.
- Life jackets are provided free of charge, and wearing one is required at all times on the water.
On site
Need snorkel gear? Rent it at the base. Need a dry bag? We sell them. You'll also find rash guards, sunscreen and a small collection of souvenirs.
