Good to know

Before you paddle.

  • Your guide chooses the route and timing for the group, based on how everyone paddles.
  • Wind, tide and sea state decide the route and the timing.
  • Routes and durations are approximate; finishing a planned route isn't guaranteed.
  • Every paddler must be able to swim. Life jackets are provided free of charge, and wearing one is required at all times on the water.
  • Open daily 07:00–18:00 WIT.
The waters of Gam Bay

Three paddles from our base.

These show the kind of water a guided day can cover — examples, not a menu to pick from. On the day, your guide shapes the paddle around the group and the conditions.

Read more about each area — routes and timings on the day are the guide's call.

Questions

Day tour FAQ

Do I need kayaking experience for a guided tour?
No — guided paddles suit all skill levels. Your guide briefs you before launch and starts in the calm, sheltered water of the bay. Every paddler must be able to swim.
How is the route chosen?
Your guide chooses the route and timing for the group, based on paddling experience, wind, tide and sea state.
What if the weather turns?
Gam Bay is naturally sheltered, but wind and sea state still matter. If conditions aren't safe your guide decides — we may change the route or move your paddle to another day.
Do I need a permit for the tour?
Every visitor to Raja Ampat needs a Marine Park Permit and Visitor Fee. Please purchase them before your paddle.
What should I bring?
Sun protection, drinking water, a hat and something for your feet. We provide the kayak, paddles, a life jacket, snorkelling gear, a dry bag, lunch and the Gam Bay paddling map. Wearing a life jacket is required at all times on the water.
